What Do We Do?

We are a Chicago company that makes web-based software applications for hedge funds and people that invest in them. We take an Agile approach to software development, embrace open-source solutions, and work with the latest technology whenever we can. Over the last few years, we have grown to serve a hundred-something clients, won several awards, and built a lot of great software. We take our customers and our service very seriously, and ourselves not seriously at all.

Why Work Here?

Amidst the hard work of taking over the world of alternative investments software, we do manage to have some fun. Our holiday parties traditionally feature a poker tournament and a Wii Bowling tournament. We have smashed a piņata and held accordion recitals in the office. (We have yet to smash an accordion; maybe at the next party.)

We are not freaks about it, but we do practice some Agile methods, including pair programming and customer-centric design. All of the developers, including managers, code and spend time on support. Our accountants, support, and implementation teams play a significant and active role in our software development process.

Backstop provides great tools and makes a real effort to make every day at work meaningful, productive, and fun. We don't telecommute; we don't outsource or offshore.
